about
This song is my midlife crisis. It's been 10 years or more since I wrote it. But I still think I'm going through it. Actually, the song is more about Ann Steffen. I met her by chance through my good friend Sandy McGregor. They were sitting in the coffee shop talking about Ann's recent break-up, and I was going through one myself, so we got to talking. Nothing ever came of it more than that moment when Ann said I was a good guy. That meant the world to me. I hope I helped her half as much as she did me that day. Pay attention to the seemingly insignificant moments. You may save someone's life and not even know it. She was the cure for a broken heart. For me anyway. John Baskerville (bass), Philip Sterk (drums), Rick Oltman (guitar), db (guitars, vocals).
lyrics
THE CURE
She told me of a man who needed his space
I could see her sorrow in the smile on her face
It’s a tired line I know
But it’s true
Any man who’d leave you baby
Well he’s a fool
She’s young and beautiful and smart
She’s the cure for a broken heart
I told her of troubles I had of my own
How a woman can turn a young man’s heart to stone
I could tell by the way she sighed
She agreed
And I thought yeah baby
You’re exactly what I need
You’re young and beautiful and smart
You’re the cure for a broken heart
I thought I’d find a remedy in a bottle at the bar
I thought I’d find a remedy in a little red sports car
I thought I’d find a remedy takin’ on a new point of view
But the only cure I found so far is you
I wondered if we stood a snowballs chance in Havana
I imagine she’d just say no and it’s probably doesn’t matter
But for one stolen moment
When her eyes met mine
She said I was a beautiful man
And I’d be just fine
She was young and beautiful and smart
She was the cure for a broken heart
