Top O the Morning to you lad.
Not sure if you recall who I am. I have seen you several times around. Talked
to you one Sunday night at Mainly Lou's about dogs primarily.
Hope this finds you well and inspired and challenged and creative and all other
good things. Especially with Coco. I sincerely feel horrid for the turmoil
raised by a misdialed phone. Dani, Donny gotta pay closer attention late at
night.
My dog Chloe is running. Running strong.
Anyway... my life hit a huge downward spiral since we last spoke. One of my
dearest pals died. Her name was Lori. Merely 31 and not a hint. She had a
blood clot in her leg, caught in her heart. Instantly gone. We met in college
and became well known for mindless, perhaps reckless, fun at Steb's. Live music
junkies together we were. Although we didn't know it at the time, our last
hurrah was your show. We drank. We laughed. And we danced. And danced.
Ten days ago several of us gathered for an informal memoriam... as expected
music was rampant. We listened to "Dance Like No One's Watching".
I wanted you to know your words and music touch people's lives when you may not
even know.
With appreciation,
Molly Quinn
lyrics
LAST DANCE (LORI’S SONG)
It was one of those fleeting moments
And I barely caught her eye
One of those things that they say happens
When we’re just passin’ by
So I took my place on the stage
The way I do every Saturday night
Took a glance down at that dance floor
And everything was alright
The music started playin’
Pretty ladies spun around the room
And the sawdust under their boots
Kept the rhythm to a rockin’ tune
And their feet just got lighter
And their sweat poured like beer
Now the dance floor’s a hallowed ground
It’s hallowed ground
This dance could be the last dance
And tonight could be all we know
So let’s raise a glass to good cheer
And the friends who are here this time next year
Cause sooner or later it’s time to go
There I was in my own oblivion
Watchin’ pretty ladies havin’ fun
Paid no mind to the clock on the wall
Time was on the run
And I never will forget them
The way they laughed and danced that night
For a moment that’s now forever
Frozen in my mind
The music kept right on playin’ …
It was one of those fleeting moments
And I barley said hi
One of those things we (stupid) humans do
When we’re hurrily passin’ by
But they danced like no one was watching
And they sang with all their might
Now there’s an angel on heaven’s dance floor
And it’s hallowed ground
